Been wanting to post this for quite sometime. i guess everyone has been waiting for a new cheerleading movie. nope, its not another low budget "bring it on" follow-up, in fact its an all new one to fire up about. it sounds like a movie about the stereo-type of the male figure being in cheerleading, according to certain source in the US. whether its against it or for it ? i guess we gotta watch it ourselves to find out.
as announced, Fired Up is based on a true story and opens in theatres in 2009 starring Molly Sims, like bring it on, this movie might just work the locals and bring great publicity to our favourtie sport.=) Heres a brief synopsis of the movie.
Shawn Colfax (Nicholas D'Agosto) and Nick Brady (Eric Christian Olsen), the stars of the Gerald R. Ford High School football team, are dreading the prospect of another summer at football camp. After Nick hatches a scheme for the two to join their school's cheerleaders at cheer camp instead, they find themselves awash in a sea of gorgeous young women. The guys are having the time of their lives until Shawn falls for Carly (Sarah Roemer), the beautiful head cheerleader who is very suspicious of their motives. To win Carly over, the boys must come up with some surprising new moves to prove Shawn's intentions before the all-important cheer competition finals.
YEah! Got something to look forward tonext year either than Watchmen the movie.
Cheerleading also did inspire E Entertainment to do an investigation on the sport cheerleading. This is pretty dated, but those who have cable (channel 80) and enjoy E entertainment, they have a programme call THS Investigates, where they investigate events in peoples life that sometimes unknowingly takes on a different angle. I think they did an episode of cheerleading back in May, which (dont fret), will be re-run on E Entertainment in the next few following weeks. when ? i'm not exactly sure. someone videoed it off a tv and posted it on you tube thou. from the commercials on tv, its seems like a different take on cheerleading, the more dangerous side of it...in a positive way, it does show many what cheerleading is really like.
Part 1 of THS Investigates : Cheerleading
More on tv ? Discovery Home and Health (Channel 70) is showing a reality programme on cheerleading in texas, where cheerleading is a way of life. the show views the cheerleaders from the eyes of their mothers, as they do whatever it takes to make their daughters dream become reality. They watch as their daughters trains for nationals with a new squad coach, intensive training routines and frustrated setbacks.
wow..if only our moms loved cheer that much.

In the papers !
Look who turned up on the papers on Sunday.Weet ! Weet ! Well, if you tot cheerleading was just all fun and games you're wrong. We cheerleaders do take our training seriously, its a sport. To some of us, its more than a sport. You gotta look the part to do the sport. Behind all that crazy over the top enthusiastic smiles, are several hours of focus training and keeping fit to keep up with our trainings. In the topic of sports, NUM came up with their version of their ever popular tank top (yesh, the one with the slingy thingy), cheerleader style. Well, i think its only for girls, cause the design looks customise to be a tank "dress". Well, kudos to NUM for including cheerleading into their collection of sporty tank tops. Its about time, Mr Shenzi. The cheerleading community is the spirit behind every sport, i think most of us have cheered for even sports like swimming at the GAMES (even thou they can't hear us). Love the dress, but please do one for the guys. We are proud of our sport too !!!
Please do a blue gold and white one. MagNUM will wear it anytime !!!
