FORMING THAT FAN PYRAMID
Check out more photos of the NDP rehearsal on the NDP website.
If you didn't know, about 300 cheerleaders will join hands to form the biggest cheerleading routine for NDP this year. Together with cheerleaders from TP, NUS, SP and Magnum, initiated by our Cheerleading Association (Singapore), this is a first at NDP. As cheerleaders in our community, this is a great promotion to our favourite sport, CHEERLEADING !! Give us your support as we show SINGAPORE the importance of the cheerleading spirit to our community.

Oh and before i end this post, this was us last year, being very patriotic, looks like we're taking our patriotism up one level this year!

Get me' Cheer Shoes

Hey Magnies,

Those of you who need to get your cheer shoes, please get them before end of July or give your shoe sizes to Denise for compilation before the week ends. I've attached pictures of the shoes for a brief idea of what you're gonna get. For the guys who are thinking of getting Nfinity, it is a great shoe, but more suitable for spring floor mats, as the shoes provides very little absorption. Unfortunately most of the time, we do not have the luxury of these mats at performances. The school is still in the process of getting us those cheer mats for our training, so if you don't mind less cushioning at this point of time, you can decide between either.

Loves.

Today i will make a difference

Today I Will Make a Difference
Max Lucado

Today I will make a difference. I will begin by controlling my thoughts. A person is the product of his thoughts. I want to be happy and hopeful. Therefore, I will have thoughts that are happy and hopeful.

I refuse to be victimized by my circumstances. I will not let petty inconveniences such as stoplights, long lines, and traffic jams be my masters. I will avoid negativism and gossip. Optimism will be my companion, and victory will be my hallmark. Today I will make a difference.

I will be grateful for the twenty-four hours that are before me. Time is a precious commodity. I refuse to allow what little time I have to be contaminated by self-pity, anxiety, or boredom.

I will face this day with the joy of a child and the courage of a giant. I will drink each minute as though it is my last. When tomorrow comes, today will be gone forever. While it is here, I will use it for loving and giving. Today I will make a difference.

I will not let past failures haunt me. Even though my life is scarred with mistakes, I refuse to rummage through my trash heap of failures. I will admit them. I will correct them. I will press on. Victoriously. No failure is fatal. It's OK to stumble... . I will get up. It's OK to fail... I will rise again. Today I will make a difference.

I will spend time with those I love. My spouse, my children, my family. A man can own the world but be poor for the lack of love. A man can own nothing and yet be wealthy in relationships. Today I will spend at least five minutes with the significant people in my world. Five quality minutes of talking or hugging or thanking or listening. Five undiluted minutes with my mate, children, and friends.

Today I will make a difference.

Even though my life is scarred with mistakes, I refuse to rummage through my trash heap of failure. I will admit them. I will correct them. I will press on.

Just a little something to keep everyone thinking positive. =)

BUBBLES - Yell ! Blue and Blue...Blue..Blue..Blue.

Thanks Joshy for the wonderful photos. Bonding camp was a blast. Shout outs to the organising committee for the incredible effort that they have put into the camp. Through this camp we've learn the importance of team work and really get to know each other better than before. From captain squid, horrific nightmazes, amazing races, candlelight soccer to supper hunt, and not forgetting the very entertaining mini showdown where all the teams came together for a friendly cheerleading competition. I must say, every performance made an impact, every team delivered. Most importantly, is all the wonderful memories and the continuous support that we've also given each other on our A4 size, paper of praise. Its also the first time the team witness a shooting star together! So may all wishes come true, as we continue to learn and grow as a team.

Paul Hunt - Comedian Gymnast

It sure ain't funny when something goes wrong at gym training and you end up beating yourself badly. Well it sure isn't the case for this guy, he sure knows how to turn a negative situation positive, he even made an exhibition out of it at nationals!! Kudos to him for lightening the hearts of all the audiences, like the MC said, he deserves a standing ovation. Check him out.

Oh..and i know this is not suppose to be funny. But i really can't help it.

Superman ?

This is a classic....i swear!!! talk about the unpredictable...

I hope they buried birdie.

More than an Experience

Wo men hui lai le, yesh we are back and japan was simply overwhelming in many ways !!! Firstly, i would like to say how proud i am of my team, for positively pulling through the whole competition, especially during the second performance. Guys, you did really well !! Althought the routine wasn't perfect, we did pull through together as a team, we learnt so much to better improve ourselves and at the end of the day were happy with our performance despite the very stressful enviroment. The first day was truly overwhelming for the team, as we had never experience such a high level competition. With a pair of eyes so hungry to feast, we were truly impress by the japanese culture of cheerleading and were very distracted by the 50 other teams that were there to compete that day. You won't feel it until you've seen it for real, and what we've seen and got ready to expect, we weren't ready at all.

We did come in 8th position. Not the best position to be in, as there were only 8 international teams competing. However, Magnum's strategy was not there to win at all, proabably closetly hoping to come in top 5, but at the end of the day with all that was thrown at us, we were contented that we did our very best on the 2nd day and pulled through. We are still a growing team, and will continue to be growing with every new batch who joins us. Most importantly is for the team to stick together and to give each other moral support through every obstacle that we face. For this i would like to thank the members who went to japan to compete. Thank you for giving each other the necessary encouragement through stressful and overwhelming moments and for pulling through and not giving up despite being under unexpected conditions. Also i am proud of you guys for staying positive by recognising both your strength and weakness. This is not the end of Magnum going for CAIO, there will be much more ahead of us !!!

All Juniors, thank you for coming down to send us off, the team truly appreciates every single effort you guys had made for us !!!

Jiawei and Eugene..are they holding hands ??? hrrmmmm....

Photobucket
Jodi made this HAWT PANTY card with all the juniors well wishes inside!!!

BTW !! The comptition wasn't the only thing that we experience, this country sure had alot to offer, did i mention that its the country with the world's best toilets ? i mean, those bowls washed my ass for me after crapping. If my ass had a mind of its own, i think i'll be stuck in the toilet most of the time. Maybe thats why ZL kept going to the toilet. lol. I know i very swakoo, but high tech is the way to go man. Even in the most run down eateries, the waiters take orders through wireless PDA technology (or whatever you call that), plus i was pretty impress by how fast my order came !!! Like in less than 30secs !!! I SWEAR !!! Go to that beef bowl place in Shibuya, next to the AM/PM convenient store, i ordered, turn around for abit, then my food appeared. Not bad sia. *CLAP HANDS*

So on the first day that we arrived, we were hit by the extremely chilly weather. Someone back in Singapore said it would be 20 something degrees, felt more like 10 something degrees. We were however having fun with our fog breath, heh.

Photobucket
Raining @ Narita Airport = Much colder weather

Photobucket

Jen sure has alot of water vapour in his breath.

We also met our lovely tour guide, Marie (pronounce as Ma-Ree-Eeh), who is a cheerleader from the University of Waseda. She was really kind to have taken us around to all the different places. She spoke really good english, god bless Marie.

Photobucket
Marie liked Horny alot.

So Marie brought us back to the National Olympic Youth Center, where we bunked for the rest of our trip in japan. Its was an hour and a half journey from Narita Airport, as expected, most of us slept through it. I was busy analysing the buildings of Tokyo and realise how much they resembled our HDB flats. Too bad i didn't get any pictures, was too tired to reach into my bag (har!), but for a moment, it really felt like Singapore. Heard from Ben, Japan copied our HDB ideas. Really meh ?!! So we settled down really fast at our hostel, cause we didn't wanna waste anytime, plus we had to take the train, so it would take us quite a while...

Photobucket
One of the many small alley streets of Tokyo, on our way to the train station.

We had to cross the train tracks to get to the streets, some of them got stuck on the other side, cause a train was coming. Not bad, got to see the train before we sat it.

Photobucket
Now you see them.

Photobucket
Now you don't

Photobucket
Vending machines selling Ciggies !! NICE !!! Japs sure know what convenience is.

Photobucket
Water-proof Chalk ?? It was raining, just a thought.

Photobucket
The Subway Map !!!

We were staying near the station "Sangubashi", it look like a pretty old station, where it was build of metal shelters and had tracks that ran through houses. Everything looked pretty run down and historical at the same time.

Photobucket
Jap schoolboys, reading while waiting for the train.

Photobucket
Jannies and Amy looks lost in translation

Photobucket
Andra and KL found good translation

So thanks to Marie, we had a clear idea of where we had to get off the next time we were left wondering and getting lost. Fortunately, we didn't had such a problem. Oh wait, i think they did on the last day. The Subway map looked like a plate of spaghetti, with japanese alphabet soup splashed all over it. Thank god for english speaking japanese man and woman.

The japs are really discipline. I did some research before japan and found out how much japs love text messaging, but i was surprise to have not hear a single ring tone sound when i was there. There were all these people with beautiful phones, but no sound...weird....

Then i found out, that you had to silent your mobile phones on the train !!! Now i know why japs love porn. Too much vibration.

Photobucket
Oh..and you had to refrain from speaking on them too. Awww. WTH !!

Photobucket

Photobucket
KL does a KAWAIII !!!

The train ride took us one whole hour to get to our destination. Before we knew it, we were out in the freezing rainy weather. But the sight of the land of dreams and fairytales did kept us going !!!

Photobucket
DISNEYLAND !!!

So we fairytaled until we drop.

Till the next post and more pic-posts to come.

(people please email me all your pics so i can post them on the blog)

over and out.
